Artist Biography
Megan O’Neil is a painter whose practice blends vibrant color with organic form. She graduated from Indiana University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and minors in Art History and Arts Management. Since then, she has exhibited in group shows and artisan markets across the Midwest. While oil paint remains her primary medium, Megan also explores design, murals, and drawing as part of her creative practice. She currently works as a freelance artist out of her studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Megan’s artwork celebrates the bold personalities of plants and flowers, distilling their forms into flat shapes, crisp contours, and heightened colors. Rather than capturing nature as it appears, she pushes color to extremes, exaggerating details that spark curiosity or delight. Each painting builds through layers of unexpected color relationships, creating compositions that feel both delicate and daring. Rooted in pattern, play, and a fascination with the natural world, her work is approachable in subject yet confident in execution. Megan invites viewers to see everyday flora in a new, vibrant light.
